This collection is a reflection of the traumas that could only be told in the treatment room, and outside of there, neither I had the strength to say nor the others were capable of hearing it.
By immersing myself in the painting, I tried to recover my words and make a new connection with the world around, to let my suffering and scared self stop hiding and start narrating out loud.
I took the additional elements -including the clothes- from the human, to speak directly and frankly. Bodies are freed from the common beauty scales and devoid of erotism, as if they shout: “I don’t want to take your time thinking about what’s going on underneath my clothes! This is all I am! Be curious about my thoughts.”
The raw and direct colors on the canvas and the free and lawless brushstrokes led to the expressionistic performance of the paintings, and in the context, Expressionism, symbolism and sometimes surrealism were exposed.
Acrylic was the definite choice as it is faster and less restrictive compared to other techniques, and it provided the most suitable conditions for me so that there would be no interruption in acting out the narrative.
And eventually I confess.
A confession which was so hard to make! Which might be hard for the audience to observe as well.
