What is the true essence of a relationship? This seemingly simple question unravels as the most intricate human experience. It is a phenomenon that, in its potentiality, harbors countless resemblances across diverse encounters. However, the moment it materializes, those resemblances dissipate within the recesses of our mind, and our perception of what appeared to be a uniform experience transforms entirely.
Imagine an opulent gathering where each guest has painstakingly adorned themselves with the finest attire after days of anticipation. All arrive in a similar context, but does this shared circumstance guarantee universal bliss and contentment?
Occasionally, we cast our gaze upon a couple and become judges of their felicity or misfortune. Yet, in doing so, we inadvertently overlook that others, too, catch a glimpse of a partially mirrored reflection of my own relationship. What sets these reflections apart are our priorities and the narratives we weave.
Within the “Relationship” collection, I strive to offer a phenomenological perspective on the concept of relationships by presenting thirteen simple scenes of being in a relationship. Free from mythical definitions of love and connections, I adopt a grounded viewpoint, allowing the human figure to dissolve from the canvas. This intentional absence invites each viewer to project themselves onto the artwork, to conceive their own personal narrative of relationships, much like garments displayed on a mannequin.
“Relationship” transcends boundaries, inviting you to explore the intricate tapestry that binds us all. Through thought-provoking brushstrokes, it illuminates the multidimensionality of relationships and encourages introspection, challenging preconceived notions and inviting you to craft your own story within the realm of connection.
